Live action Ichi movie? That can't be Ichi the killer. That is way to F'd up to be just streamed for free to anybody. *edit* oh nm, it is a film based on the Zatoichi mythos. Hmmm, a female Zatoichi. Will have to check that out.

The official blog of the North American anime distributor Funimation noted on Monday that it posted more free episodes on its own website and on the Youtube and Hulu websites this past week. Many of these titles are also available on ANN. Among the titles are the first four subtitled episodes of Sekirei, and the subtitled version of the live-action movie Ichi. Funimation also added the first four dubbed episodes of Slayers Revolution to Funimation's website after streaming them on the Youtube website on January 21.

I haven't seen it yet either, but the trailers that they've put out make it look pretty interesting, certainly better than Shinobi. They were handing out posters for it at the Motaku so I guess they pushed it pretty well for Funimation live action.

The North American anime distributor Funimation has announced that it has licensed the Baka and Test — Summon the Beasts (Baka to Test to Shōkanjū) and Dance In The Vampire Bund television anime series from Media Factory. It will simulcast both series with English subtitles — within days of the Japanese broadcast — starting this month, and the first episodes of both series will begin streaming this Friday at 10:00 a.m. CST.

The Baka and Test — Summon the Beasts anime, which adapts Kenji Inoue's fantasy romantic comedy light novels, premiered in Japan on January 6. The story centers around Akihisa Yoshii, the "baka" of the title. His magical academy rigidly divides up the student body into classes based on the results of tests. The prodigies are in the A class with reclining seats complete with air conditioning, but Akihisa is in F class, the lowest rung of the school ladder which is furnished only with low, decrepit tables and worn-out straw tatami mats. Akihisa decides to rally F class to take on the higher-tiered classes and seize their perks. The F class uses its summoning powers in an all-out battle for school supremacy. Funimation's simulcast of the latest Baka and Test — Summon the Beasts episodes will begin on March 10.

The Dance In The Vampire Bund anime adapts Nozomu Tamaki's manga about a vampire princess who wants to create a special district for her kind off the coast of Japan, despite the terrorists and rival factions arrayed against her. Seven Seas Entertainment released the fifth volume of the manga in North America in November. The anime premiered in Japan on January 7, and Funimation's simulcast of the latest episodes will begin on March 12.

Just emerged relatively unscathed from some serious Twitter dorama over this announcement: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-03-05/funimation-addresses-dance-in-the-vampire-bund-edits I'm sure the rest of the Internet will be burning for days, though.

So, it seems loli is indeed defined by the body shape, and not the age (at least according to Funi). I wonder how lolicons who always said otherwise are going to react to this.

Also, yay for Baka to Test getting licensed. Best show of the season.

hmmm several good titles. Rosario was...interesting for the first season, but I couldn't get into Capu2 (other then the catchy theme song). Rideback is a strong buy for me if they release it as a box set. Might watch Chaos;Head streamed. Got kind of bored with Regios after a few eps. I have been curious about Sora no O because I hear it has a high level of fan service

The North America anime distributor Funimation has announced at its Anime Central panel on Saturday that it has licensed the Rosario + Vampire, Rosario + Vampire Capu2, Chaos;HEAd, Chrome Shelled Regios, Rideback, Heaven's Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono), and GUNxSWORD anime series. All of the new titles will ship in 2011 — except for GUNxSWORD and Regios, which will ship in late 2010.

Funimation has also announced the English dubbing casts for Eden of The East, Casshern Sins, and Shikabane Hime. The company is offering a "free ride" to Comic-Con International in San Diego this July to the most ardent Fullmetal Alchemist fan; fans can enter by posting their video pleas on YouTube and http://www.fullmetalalchemist.com/comiccon/.

Takayuki Inagaki (Desert Punk, Indian Summer) and Gonzo's 2008 Rosario + Vampire television series and its Rosario + Vampire Capu2 sequel adapt Akihisa Ikeda's supernatural school comedy manga of the same name. The story follows an ordinary high school boy who fails to get into any private academy except one — which happens to be populated by supernatural creatures (yōkai) disguised as humans. To survive, Tsukune Aono has to pretend that he is also a yōkai and blend in. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.

I'll have to check out Chaos;HEAD if only because I've got a figure from it. (Yeah, I'm doing it backwards now.) I'm pleased as punch to hear that Rideback got licensed after immensely enjoying the few episodes that Ben showed me. I'm curious about Chrome Shelled Regios if only because of the cool name but I'll have to rely on the rest of you for tidbits about the other titles.

Fantastic show. You'll come for the fan service (multiple times Wink), but you'll stay for the comedy.

-Looking forward to the release Rideback. I'm all over the DVD for that one.

-I advise against watching Chaos;HEAD, and for what it's worth, I really hated the first episode of Sora no Otoshimono.

-Haven't seen or heard much of anything about Rosario or Regios or GunxSword.
